Acad Milanov is president of the Bulgarian Neurological Society, the Bulgarian Movement Disorders and Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Bulgarian Headache and Pain Society, and the Bulgarian Society of Clinical Electromyograph. His professional experience includes being elected as an academician in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and serving as a corresponding member in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Director and Prof. at the University Neurological Hospital “St. Naum”, Department of Movement Disorders, Chief of Neurological clinic of Movement Disorders at the University Neurological Hospital “St. Naum”, and deputy minister of the Ministry of Health in 2010.
Currently he is also chairman of the Bulgarian Society of Neurology and the Expert Neurological Council at the Ministry of Health. He has a 36-year medical and scientific career in Bulgaria and abroad, and is the author of over 600 scientific publications and textbooks on neurology.
